The Women, Peace and Security Helpdesk is an expert call-down facility that provides high-quality, flexible technical expertise and support on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and gender issues to the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) and UK government. Specifically, the Women, Peace and Security Helpdesk can boost the UK’s capacity to advance its Women, Peace and Security National Action Plan and mainstream gender into its conflict and security-focused policy and programming.
The Helpdesk is managed by Saferworld in partnership with Gender Action for Peace and Security UK (GAPS), Conciliation Resources, University of Durham and Women International Peace Centre (WIPC). The Helpdesk is funded by the UK government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF).
The type of support offered includes:
- Gender and conflict analyses at a local, national or regional level to inform policy and programming
- Research exploring the links between gender and a range of conflict and security issues
- Training sessions on gender and conflict analysis, and gender and conflict-sensitive monitoring, evaluation and learning
The WPS Helpdesk website has been set up to share the research reports and other materials developed by experts via the Helpdesk call-down facility, making them available to the UK government and to the broader public.
