Dr Paul Kirby is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary University of London and a Co-Director of the GCRF Gender, Justice and Security Hub. He is an academic with interests in gender governance, feminist statecraft, wartime sexual violence and global masculinities. His latest book is Governing the Feminist Peace: The Vitality and Failure of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (Columbia University Press, co-authored with Laura J. Shepherd). He has written policy briefs on the future of UK WPS policy and military responses to sexual violence. Other recent publications include ‘Sexual Violence in the Border Zone’ in International Affairs, ‘The Body Weaponised’ in Security Dialogue, ‘Women, Peace and Security’ in the Journal of Global Security Studies, and New Directions in Women, Peace and Security (Bristol University Press, co-edited with Soumita Basu and Laura J. Shepherd). Paul has also provided evidence to Parliamentary committees on Women, Peace and Security and the UK’s Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative.
