GAPS POLICY ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER (Maternity Cover, 1 year).
The GAPS Policy Advocacy and Communications Manager will support the coordination and development of the GAPS network, and the development and delivery of the GAPS strategy. The role works closely with the GAPS Director, the GAPS, the GAPS Policy, Advocacy and Communications Officer, GAPS member agencies and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS).
GAPS is an independent network hosted by Saferworld, which is also a member organisation. This recruitment will be led by the GAPS’ Director and follow GAPS’ rules and procedures.
Candidates with proven knowledge and understanding of women, peace and security (WPS), peacebuilding, conflict and/or humanitarian policy and MEL are encouraged to apply. Candidates with experience, taken and/or potential in: policy and advocacy; social media; communication and networking; working with civil society, government or multilateral institutions; have a commitment to gender and women and girls’ rights or have an interest will be welcome.
This role will suit someone wanting to work with a dynamic and ambitious civil society network, and specifically work on international women and girls’ rights and/or peace and security policy. They will support GAPS members to increase their influence and impact through strategic WPS advocacy and lead on the development of advocacy strategies and tools that can be used to effectively influence change at all levels but with a focus of UK government work in countries and at central level. The post-holder will be committed to feminist, anti-racist and inclusive ways of working, with a strong understanding of working in multi-cultural settings and accompanying women’s organisations, people and processes, including in conflict settings.
